Reading "Reconstituting the Utopian Vision of Making: HCI After Technosolutionism”

The text is a critic of "making" within Human-Computer Interaction research. There is a belief that technology alone can solve complex social issues. In reality, Making is shaped by politics, culture, and business interests. In China "making" is tied to government policies and global manufacturing. In Taiwan it is connected to national identity and democracy. We should study both its benefits and problems while actively working to make it more inclusive and socially meaningful
